Cranford Millburn Camera Club
Exploring the world through photography
Competitions are a great way for club members to share their work and get ideas on how to improve their images. Judges are encouraged to provide comments and suggestions, providing an enhanced learning experience for the photographer. Anyone is welcome to attend club meetings but only paid members may enter the competitions.
There are two competitions held one night each month:
Projected Digital Image competition – Open Subject
Projected Digital Image competitions - Assigned Subject
Members may choose which group they wish to compete in based on their level of skill. Once a member determines which group is best, they must enter all competition images within that group.
Class B: Beginners
Class A: Intermediate
Salon: Advanced
For the Projected Image Assigned Subject competition, the A and B group will compete as one group and the Salon photographers will be judged separately.
Seven competitions are held each year with the year end final held in May. All award winning images will be eligible for the year end competition.
In addition, December is set aside for the Terry Boyer Award competition and Holiday Party. Each member may enter up to 4 digital images.
Scoring System
A two round scoring system is used for all competitions.
Round One - Images will be scored on a scale of 5-7:
5= Below Average
6 = Average
7 = Qualifies for review in the second round
7 = Original score is retained, does not qualify for an award
8 = Qualifies for Honorable Mention or higher
9 = Qualifies for Print/Image of the Month or Top Award
Up to three (3) digital images may be entered in the Open category and up to three (3) in an Assigned category.
Any image that has a final score of 8 or 9 points in previous competitions during the year may not be re-entered again in a scored competition. They may be used in the Terry Boyer Award and year end competition.
